Geraci Siculo (Jiraci in Sicilian[4]) is an Italian municipality of 1,702 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Palermo in Sicily.
A bloody battle between Peter II of Sicily and Francis I Ventimiglia was fought there in 1338.
It is part of the Madonie Park, moreover, it is included in the club of The most beautiful villages in Italy[5] and holds the quality label “Flowery municipality.”
Geraci Siculo is a town of ancient origins with an urban layout dating back to the Middle Ages. It is a town devoted to agriculture and pastoralism, the main economic activity being the establishment for the collection and bottling of mineral water from the sources of the Geraci mountains. Also very special are the village’s traditions, among which at least the Thanksgiving feast (dedicated to Saints Bartolo and James) and the Feast of the Crucifix should be mentioned. Among the events is the chivalric tournament in period costume called “Joust of the Ventimiglias.”
